Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, thousands more children were left orphaned, without adequate shelter or care. We believed that God was calling us to provide a home for as many of these children as we could. In the weeks after the earthquake, we took in an additional twenty-three children, and housed them temporarily at the Williamson site, while a new orphanage could be constructed.
Our friends in Valley County, Nebraska raised over $27,000 to help build this orphanage (please see
Living Water Haiti to see what this community is doing).
We have also received generous donations from many other churches, organizations, and individuals to finish the orphanage, start a school for the children, and care for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We plan to continue to expand our facilities as funds allow. As of July, 2010, the orphanage is nearly complete, and thirty children are living there. A multi-purpose building is also nearly complete, which will serve as a school, cafeteria, and church sanctuary. As resources allow, we hope to taken in up to twenty more children, to not only care for them now, but to provide them an education and vocational skills as they grow. First and foremost, we want to teach them to know their Creator and His infinite love for them, and to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
You can sponsor a child at Valley House of Hope for $40 per month.
